About two years ago, I installed a new Adaptec 3200 series USB 2.0 PCI card in my G4 MDD 2003 1.25GHz PowerMac. It worked fine with my scanner but it did not always recognize my iPod (first the mini, then the nano). It would recognize it immediately after the computer was booted up; after that it was hit-and-miss (mostly miss).
More recently, I have tried two other cards, an I/O Gear and a Syba, the latter billed as having "the quality NEC chipset." Neither of them improved the situation. Occasionally the card will also fail to recognize a USB flash drive. This happens much less frequently than the failure to recognize the iPod, but perhaps it is a clue. Also, there is an installed USB 1.1 card that always recognizes the iPods. Any idea as to what might be happening here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
