I have downloaded utube vids with the Icab filter for that, and
notice playing them back in VLC is very nice and smooth on my
g4-550 powerbook. There is a VLC plugin but I haven't yet tried to
make it my flash player in the preferences...

flash is *very* inefficient, I don't know why. you can also try
downloading the mp4 if they exist and again try vlc rather than apple
player.

Note: you have to get the 0.8.6 version, the 0.9 version doesn't work
(even though it says ok w/tiger, it crashes for me)
