G4 Sawtooth - 400, OS 10.4.8 We had a massive lightning storm last night and after reading a bunch of post and trying out 3 different cables I've come to the conclusion that I zapped my ethernet port. I'm a little miffed about this as I DID spend the money on good surge protectors. On the other hand I'm thankful that everything else seems to be working fine. (and I have a PB with which I can still access the net)
I opened up the machine and saw that the ethernet port is built right into the board so this is not a quick fix situation. Nor a cheap fix. I've decided to try the apple USB ethernet adapter. But from what I understand it will only work on OS 10.5.2. How can I upgrade without the internet connection? And can my Sawtooth handle 10.5.2? Is there some way to connect my old G4 titanium PB (10.4.11/500) to the sawtooth and transfer the files? Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.
