Sounds like the old drive was master and new drive isn't, the new drive needs the master present on the ide bus? If that's not the case then.... Zap the pram then reselect the new boot volume. And I think when booting if you hold down opt-cmd-shift-DELETE, you will cause OF to skip the default volume and seek for another. And holding down the option key, (I think that's right), will tell OF to let you select.
