On one hand history argues that 10.4 will start to be dropped from Apple's support list, but on the other, 10.4 was the release version on the oldest Intel Macs so the dropping of 10.4 may be slower. On the gripping hand, 10.6 was another big 'changes under the hood' release, much like 10.4, that will argue for a rapid drop in 10.4 support, much like what happened to 10.3...as soon as 10.4 came out, apps appeared that were 10.4 only.
