Sometimes the simple (and primitive) things are better than the advanced and complex things. Just remember that Unix is based on simplicity. Before Unix everything was complex, but then Unix established simple concepts like "everything is a file". There is a saying that can be used in daily life as well: "Keep it simple and stupid" (KISS). Naming files in a specific order using the filenames is a simple but working solution. If you use the files on a mobile device where they are not meant to be transferred yet to another storage or shared with friends -- that's a KISS solution, I'd say...
