A flashing folder alternating between a Mac Face and a Question Mark
is the 'Startup Folder Not Found' error.

With OS X this generally points to directory corruption, or someone
doing things gs they shouldn't have, with OS 9 this could also mean
that the folder got 'unblessed' somehow, or the System Folder was
moved accidentally.

WHichit boots into depends on how the startup folder was last set.

Booth with the option key held down and see if you can choose one or
the other to boot from.
