It's always nice to have a few extra Macs.  So do both! :)

Lots of hardware upgrades are available for Power Macs:  Processor, 
memory, video, hard drives, other interfaces, etc.  As to the 
financial viability of each upgrade... Folx can make more specific / 
apropos recommendations once they know what'all you have currently.
