You're booting into "Target Disk Mode" which effectively changes your entire G4 into an external HD so that its HD can be mounted on another Mac. You've got two external HDs attached to each other with no Mac to boot from. What you need to do is use the Option key at startup to select the FW800 HD as the boot drive. You could also boot normally and use Startup Disk to designate the FW800 HD.
