Ichat will work with both. As for a webcam, any compatible USB camera  
(either expressly or with the macam driver <http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/

iChat, avoiding the need for expensive firewire cameras. iChat also  
supports "USB Video Class" cameras; however, in my experience these  
cameras are quite expensive. Here's a fairly extensive list of devices

page.

There's also Adium <http://adium.im/> which lots of people like.
