With any Radeon card or some nVidia you can enable QE using PCI Extreme 3.1: <http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8979/pci-extreme%21> On Dec 24, 2009, at 4:55 PM, John Niven wrote: > I emailed this guy: > > http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150392736247&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT > > and he claims that NVidia cards are natively supported, though ATI > is not (which I can attest to). I believe he's flashing the nVidia card with special firmware that enables QE & Core Graphics. I don't believe this is an "Xserve" Apple video card. > The card costs more than a whole B&W though. You can likely buy a PC nVidia FX5200 or FX5500 and flash it to Mac for much cheaper. MacElite has ROMs I believe? These would be the ONLY PCI cards with Core Image support. QE is OK on a B&W or Yikes as long as the card is the only card and is in the special video PCI slot. Core Image will be very slow on any PCI video, it really needs AGP or PCIe. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
