This has already happened to a bunch of them.

Seriously, with the price of hard drives these days having your own  
backup drive (or set with rotating backups stored off site...which can  
be a friend's sock drawer or something) compared to the price of  
recovering everything (if it's at all possible...what price video of  
your baby's first steps?) you'll find it's a very cheap form of  
insurance.
