Hello Group,
I need some advice re: two G4s. One is a grey tower and the other a
blue and white tower. I don't need both machines and want to
cannibalize the best components out of each, to make one good one.
Here are the specs for the B&W:
Hardware Overview:
Well, first of all, who knows what this thing is. Blue&White Macs
NEVER came with G4's in them and the G4 (AGP GRaphics) started life as
a Gray and White system. (even if it is a kind of bluish gray):

This is a Blue&White:

Here's how to tell the G4 systems apart:

One of the issues is; do I really want and need 4 PCI slots, the
other is, the mother board speeds, (133 vs 100 MHz)? Also, one of my
dimms is a 512 MB which only works in the Blue and White (voltage
thing ?).
Speed thing. PC100 SDRAM will not work in the faster bus.
I have a stronger bond to the B&W and recently bought the grey for
it's video card and CPU. Any and all opinions are appreciated. PS I
think the blue tower is newer and better looking. Thanks, Roman--
The two are incompatible; you cannot transplant the CPU or Video card
from one to the other, so the solution s sell the gray system and look
for a faster CPU and grahics card for the G4AGP (which will likely
cost considerably more than what you cann get for the other system) or
learn to loive with the looks and 3 PCI slots.
