Unplug the machine and try working some cleaner into the switch. If
this were my own machine I would not be afraid to use rubbing alcohol,
electronic contact cleaner or even WD - 40.  I have used all three
with success and no harm noted.

Get at the switch as directly as you can. Apply the cleaner and keep
working the switch. You may notice crud flowing out of it with
repeated applications.

If this does not work inspect the circuit for the switch.
