Did you actually unpack the package file from the zip it is downloaded in? When I tried running the package file from within "BetterZip", it would not install. After dragging and dropping (i.e. extracting) the .pkg file to my desktop, it installed fine.
You probably also need to ensure that Safari is closed when you install.
