And then there's this ...

Yea. heh.
After Jobs slapped Adobe upside the head, Adobe's
CTO (Chief Technology Officer) responded with
this FUD-filled blogness:
<http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2010/02/open_access_to_content_and_app.html>
Matthew Dempsky replied to the CTO's claim that
Flash doesn't ship with crash bugs, proving that
CTO to be either a liar or an incompetent nitwit.
<http://flashcrash.dempsky.org/>
CAUTION: DO NOT hit Mr Dempsky's page unless
you're running Flash 10.1 or a Flash Blocker! It
WILL crash ALL previous versions of Flash!!!!
THEN Emmy Huang responded with this (IMO credible) post:
<http://blogs.adobe.com/emmy/archives/2010/02/flash_bug_repor.html>
Ms Huang is the actual Flash product manager.
She's still trapped into carrying the official
Adobe FUD, but I think what's she's saying is
more real.
I didn't know what to make of the supposed quote/claim
"In Flash Player 10.1 we are moving to CoreAnimation, which will
further reduce CPU usage and we believe will get us to the point where
Mac will be faster than Windows for graphics renderingÅ .With Flash
Player 10.1, we are optimizing video rendering further on the Mac and
expect to reduce CPU usage by half, bringing Mac and Windows closer to
parity for video."
That would be nice. But it doesn't appear to me to have happened yet
... Maybe in the next version of the 10.1 beta?
Historically, Flash uses few, if any, of the
OS-supplied primitives for displaying graphics.
This is why graphics performance of Flash has
floundered, while other apps have improved by
leaps and bounds. And Adobe has been proud of
that. So now, after all these years, Adobe is
just now getting around to using these
fundamental technologies. It's pitiful really,
to be so far behind the curve.
