Title: 17" inch hinge gap?

I have seen on ebay about replacing these hinges using some kind of glue for when they break and you replace them with new ones... This is a very weak area in design on these computers, maybe who ever replaced it didn't do it right??? I have to replace the LCD screen in mine and I'm going to be dealing with this soon but at least mine are not broke yet, I spray them with Silicone Spray so they are not stiff when closing it... This is what probably breaks them I'm sure...

Subject: 17" inch hinge gap?

I just got a 17 “ Powerbook 5,3  that has had the back hinge replaced – I notice there is a substantial gap at the hinge side of the unit when the lid is closed – wondering if anyone else who has this unit could let me know if this is typical or is perhaps a bad hinge replacement.  Just worried about pressures on the closed unit causing screen deformations/discolorations/cracking etc.

Thanks
