There is someone on this list who replaced an 800x600 clamshell LCD with a 1024x768 screen, but I don't know what the 1024x768 LCD came from? If you're using OS X, a higher resolution LCD would be a fantastic upgrade for any clamshell, especially one with 8MB VRAM. I'd try to find out what that higher res LCD was.
