I have had the same problem on my graphite PM G4, but putting the jumpers in a dual configuration worked. I have both hard drives at 40GB, one is a master one is a slave. Only thing is, it only worked for me after i partitioned the main hard drive. Now only the main HDD can be used in target disk mode, but it works.\\Here's the configuration that solved my problem, if it helps:
