I just upgraded my PowerMac G5 1.8GHz tower (2003) from 1GB RAM to 5GB
RAM, today. I was hoping that with more memory that the would process
video better.

I am running Leopard on the thing, 10.5.8, and iMovie still plays back
video I take on my iSight attached to that Mac with scant tracking of
audio and video.

I thought adding the RAM would increase the speed with which it can
process video.

If it doesn't, and this is normal, at what speed did G5s tackle video
properly?

This is goofy. I mean, it's only an iSight video. We're not talking
about high-quality video here. Even my nano's video shots have a
jumpiness to them.

So is there any way to get this G5 to process video? (I have a copy of
Final Cut Express, but couldn't get it to load on my G5. Don't know
why. Some software discs just get rejected by the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM
drive. Don't know why.) I really would like to use this as a video
editing device as well as my MacBook Pro 13, recently purchased.

Please advise. Thanks.
