Since i do not have any experience with the internal components of iMac G5
computers, my answer may be limited to the best of my knowledge.

There is a 50% chance that this will succeed, because the 20" iMac G5 only
has a bigger screen, and maybe the logic board will fit right into place if
you know what you are doing. However, the other 50% says that it will not
fit, because the physical size of the iMac G5 20" is 3" wider than the imac
G5 17", so there is a possibility that the logic board may be somewhat
different in the size. I do think that the 17" iMac G5 logic board will fit,
it's just that either you might have a little extra physical space in the
interior of the computer, or the system components might be arranged in a
slightly different way than the 17" iMac. Information can help, but you
can't be sure until you try.
