I've got a Tripp-Lite model that I've replaced the battery in twice now. I
didn't really keep records, though I suppose I might be able to find when I
paid for the batteries, but think they have lasted 2 to 3 years each. Of
course, both times, I didn't know the battery had failed till we had a power
outage and the UPS didn't work. Each time, I found a battery on eBay,
replaced the battery (one screw to open the case, slide battery out
disconnect two color coded leads, then reverse to install) and was back in
use. The APC models I've had didn't seem as easy to get into, so I've never
replaced a battery in one of those.

Thank you both for your time and contribution, Jack and Anne.

Now that's not bad budgeting. I admire you, Jack. I wasn't interested
enough to get a
replacement battery for the APC - The cost is too close to a new w/
free shipping (Which I got). Plus, I have no idea how long the
replacement will last and if it doesn't have the reports that it would
last as long as the manufacturer's new one I figure: Why not buy a new
one anyway?

The APC was showing odd signs I didn't consider until now, like it was
beeping sometimes and of course, the power has been going out a couple
times every couple weeks.
Anyway, thank you! Lots more gardening ahead in my yard!!!!!

If the APC is A Back-ups e s 550 I would be interested in the switch or case less battery. On mine the switch won't move and likes to cut off on it's own. Most of the time dropping, walking heavy or stomping floor causes status change. Today if shut off 5 times in 4 hours, needless to say it's out of service.
If It compatible post off line.
