lol guys and gals today i was using safari on my PM G4 iSaw (Sawtooth) and
then on my i7 quad core iMac, and both had the beach ball of death aty the
same time or the "Application not responding. My iSaw CANNOT freeze from
anything, ad it has Leopard, a PowerPC G4 Processor @400Mhz, and 2048MB
(2GB) of RAM. I know the processor specs aren't too amazing, but i've gotta
tell you one thing. I have had this machine ever since it came out of it's
cradle, and there has never been a program that slows it down like safari
does. I mean I run Leopard on it (which it "supposedly" heavy on older
systems like mine), I ran GarageBand, Pages, Photoshop CS4, and Keynote all
at the same time, and still get amazing performance. Once I open safari
however, that's a completely different story. I open 5 tabs, It slows down,
"claims that /I have a slow connection, then It starts the "Application not
responding" window of death. My iSaw is really pissed at Safari. It works
faster with safari 1.0 than it does with safari 4.0.5! How ironic! I though
at first this is Apple's marketing technique to eliminate PowerPC users to
come to the intel world, but I have the same problem on my Intel Mac. It's
only a matter of time until Apple really gets "whacked in the head" for this
one. I always thought that Safari was the best browser yet, but those were
the datys before safari 4 came out. Back in '07, my iSaw was happy with
Leopard and safari 3. Now it jeeps on complaining that it sucks it's memory
up.
Here is what Process Viewer reported for safari:
