The Apple Power Macintosh G4/1.25 (MDD 2003) ( M9145LL/A )intro'd June 23,2003
disc June 9,2004
can boot into OS9
It is a re-released version of the Power Macintosh G4/1.25 DP (MDD) (M8573LL/A)
-- due to demand from users who still needed to boot MacOS 9 -- but configured,
by default, with a single processor released on June 23, 2003 and discontinued
on June 9, 2004 .
This was a cheapie version with a single processor, less RAM, a smaller hard
drive, and a
DVD-ROM/CD-RW "Combo" drive instead of a DVD-R/CD-RW "SuperDrive". It
also sold for a much lower price, US$1299 instead of US$3299.
I'm not 100% sure why some of these can't boot into OS9 but I would hazard a
guess that it is a problem of the logicboard and the OS not being able to
recognise FW800 in OS9.
