OK, Apple's instructions are off. To perform a hard factory reset on
model A1034 (APE with built-in modem), hold down the reset button (I'd
recommend a pen - don't know why Apple says to use a paper clip) for
*fifteen* seconds, until the lights start blinking. That'll reset the
router. I've got an A1034, and it's not exactly the easiest thing to
figure out.

You tried the software reset first and that didn't work? Weird.

Oh, are you trying to create a wireless distribution system
(connecting one router wirelessly to another)? From what I hear, that
only works if you use multiple Apple routers—you can't mix Apple and
non-Apple routers in a WDS.
