I also have a QS 2001 867 with a similar problem. I tried changing the internal speaker with a speaker out of an identical, (dead mobo but would bong indicating mobo or CPU) QS with no success. Headphones and external speakers work ok. I am interested in where to look for damaged components and how to identify them. I probably don't have the skills to repair it but knowledge is a good thing and if it is not too difficult..............
