Does that make a difference?
That shouldn't make any difference at all, unless you changed the jumper settings. Western Digitals use slightly different settings. OTOH, I've experienced SDWM (sudden death when moved) with a number of beige Macs (mostly G3s) in the last couple of years. Sometimes it's the hard drive, sometimes it's the power supply, sometimes it's a deep dark secret. My best guess is that the stress of moving somehow fractures a connection that has become tenuous over time because of oxidation of the metals that carry electricity. The magical malfunction appears to happen sooner in humid climates than in dry climates, which buttresses my WAT (wild a** theory) somewhat. But it's all anecdotal evidence. Oh, OTOH stands for On The Other Hand. Hope this helps, or at least gives you something to cling to.
