Did you try to go to "System Preferences" then click on the Microphone and it should be there, then you can set it up that way or at least you should be able to??? I did this when I got my Logitech headset with mike to use with my ViaVoice Program!!!

iMacs and many laptops have built in microphones but I don't think any of the towers do.....
