the problem in OSX is not the controller, it's the fact that there
isn't an OSX driver for that scanner. i'm not sure that the 2906

compatible PCI/SCSI card, it still would not see the scanner in OSX.
there is a website that has hacks to enable old scanners with OSX, but
i don't recall the name for sure. something like SANE. perhaps
another lister can point you to it. however, i personally would not
attempt that. my suggestion is either get a new scanner (you can get
one that blows the doors off of your old microtek for under $50), or
simply scan and save the images to your HD in OS9, and then open or
import them into the apps you want to use in OSX.

Hi,

I have problems with my SCSI-controller card, it is an Adaptec 2906.
My SCSI-Probe in OS9 sees my Microtek Scanmaker III but when I try to
use it I get all kinds of errors. Although I used the scanner before
with Microtec ScanWizard now Photoshop versions 4 and 6 tell me I have
an old driver or scanner not found. In OSX no scanner is seen anyway
so I cannot use VueScan which I would prefer as I have Adobe CS2.

So what other brand and model of SCSI-controller can you recommend
that would work in OSX Panther/Tiger and OS9?

TIA for your input.

Regards, Jörg.

watch Craig's list for an all-in-one scanner/fax/printer. I personally like the models w/ separate ink cartridges and a Cat 5 port to plug into my networks. i.e. 3 computers 1 aio printer

HP models I have
C61xx series
73xx series

etc
