all of a sudden my computer wants me to 'unlock screen'. "You must authenticat to unloc screen"

The computer is left on, the screen saver is running but when I move the mouse the screen goes blank and I have to input my user password. The computer never did this before.

This is a setting in the Security prefs "Require a password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver".

Also I hate key chain since now my mail wants me to 'key chain' password before it will download my mail. Is there anyway to turn this off?

Your keychain entry for this password may be corrupted.

If Mail is the only application doing this, go into Keychain Access (in the utilities folder) and look for an "Internet password for your mail server. Double-click on it, click on Access Control and make sure the box 'Ask for Keychain Password' is unchecked. Also make sure Mail is listed in the 'Always allow access for these applications' section.

If both of these are set correctly and you still have this issue first try repairing your keychain (via Keychain First Aid in the Keychain Access menu), then try deleting the Mail password (while Mail is NOT running) and checking the box for the password to be remembered in the keychain.

Make sure there is only one saved password for the incoming mail server (in the Attributes section, in the where line it will say smtp:// (for outgoing authentication, if used) and imap:// or pop:// for the incoming mail server.

If all else fails, make sure you know the remembered passwords, (you can use Keychain access to view the saved passwords) then delete the login keychain. Immediately log off and back in, and it'll create a new one the first time you're prompted for a password, as in your email.
