I got a Power Mac G4 Quicksilver (original from 2001) with a Single-733 MHz
processor. It was terribly slow, at least compared to what I was used to (a
Dual 1 GHz MDD). I then bought a Dual-800 MHz processor card that also came
from a QS (original, 2001) and replaced the original processor with this new
“upgrade”.

No problems. No running hot. No issues. It was running quite a lot, often at
100% CPU usage (compiling Gentoo Linux…) – all stable, but nowerdays it mostly
switched off since I have a new PC.

I've now overclocked a Dual-450 to 500 MHz (came from a GE) in my Power Mac G4
AGP, originally Single-400 MHz. I haven't stess-tested it yet, but it did run
stable for at least two hours with the processor level was quite high at
times.

Of course, a Dual-1 GHz would be the best for a QS – max'd out so to say.
