I've had the above problem happen when the CPU needed to be re-seated
as well. Just because the MDD is doing this doesn't necessarily mean the it's
power supply related although I am glad that in your case it proved to be
true:-)

I've had several MDD's without power supply issues? so I can't confirm
"failure date"... what I can confirm is that dust bunnies over time can wreck
serious havoc giving shorter life to any power supply or for that matter, any
computer period.

Hmm, this is news to me? I was aware that they sent out new fans (power
supply & main fans), but not aware of the firmware update....hmm..
