Hi Kris, Generally I would agree, PCI-X is supposed to be backward compatible. I had several experiences with M-Audio, U-Art, and a couple generic USB adapter cards that unfortunately proved otherwise (the standard PCI design did not fit, and offered no slot alignment)- just our dumb luck, I would say, to have the few models that were the exception to the rule.
