If he is, it is COMPLETELY un-necessary.

The 8GB limit ONLY applies to the Beige G3's, the first gen iMacs and the Wall 
Street powerbook; all those need XPF to go beyond 10.2.

If it truly is a Blue&White G3 tower, it is fully supported by Apple up through 
10.4.11.
