Glad you got it all working.

Well, generally Tiger will install with no problem with retail (black) install
disk. I writing this from a B&W with an install of Tiger I did 6 months ago. It
went fast and I it did a number of other upgrades at that time with no problems.

However, here's a random thought; perhaps your gray disks don't play well with
the logic board IDE controller. I remember several years ago I tried to install
Panther on a rev1 B&W. The install disks were gray eMac disks purchased from
OWC
as universal installs. The Panther disks worked fine with other rev2 B&W's

After hours of failed attempts including using Xpost, I finally got Panther to
install on a SCSI drive connected to a PCI SCSI card; still no success with the
IDE HD. Finally, in desperation I switched the ribbon cables from the ATA
buses.
Once the HD was connected to the optical bus the install was successful -- very
slow but it worked.

That B&W was taken out of service 6 months ago and replaced by the one I am
using now. The morale of the story, if there is one, some old rev1 B&W's are
just FUBR. --glen
