The origination of this thread had to do with putting an attachment on the emails to the list. This has to do with not only bandwidth used shuffling around attachments (as opposed to sigs) but what attachments can possibly carry in them.
Sigs should be cut down to a desirable size, but their content is acceptable as long as they are not intentionally offensive to any person or people on the list. A bunny bothers nobody.
