Hello, folks. Has anybody had experience with getting Mac's Mail
client to interface with "mail.q.com"? I can send mail out via
smtp.q.com, but Mac Mail times out on "port 587" when it tries to
download mail.
Are you using POP or IMAP protocol? The standard port for receiving mail
on IMAP is 993, and SMTP sends mail on port 465 or 587. Also check with
Qwest about SSL/TLS and secure authorization settings for receiving mail.
I think the POP ports are 25 for SMTP 110 for receiving but it's been a
long time since I've used POP, and again you will need to check the
SSL/TLS and secure authorization settings with Qwest. A Google search
should provide the answers, or you can always roll the dice with
"customer service."
