Personally I wouldn't think a processor upgrade, even a used one, would be worth it if you are getting a new Mac soon. Max out the RAM to 1.5 GB, that should only cost $20 or so. You can also run a freeware utility called Monolingual which will strip out the Intel and G5 architectures from your OS, along with the languages you don't need.
