You've got to get the DVD to boot from the optical drive in order to
install.
Here's something else to try:
Boot the Mac normally, and double-click the "Install OS X" which will
restart.
When it begins to restart, hold the Cmd-v keys and see what the
verbose dialog says when it tries to boot from the DVD?
The final line of the dialog, or a repeating line should give you a
clue as to what the problem is hopefully.
