My stock MDD dual 1.0GHz ATI 9000 Pro (64MB) handles 1920x1080 just fine on an Acer 23". No core image though...
This is via DMI. Interestingly, it will not work properly on my 47" Vizio via DMI to HDMI cable, though analog 1920x1080 via VGA adapter works great.
