Did they work before you did a reinstall? Did you check the volume control up by the time in the top right hand corner, System Pref and click on the speaker (Sound) or the F5 key too??? It might be the sound card, bad wire to the speakers or even the speakers??? If they worked before the reinstall it may not have installed the drivers for the sound? Maybe do a clean and reinstall again???
