My router offers a mode called WPA/WPA2 in addition to WPA and WPA2.
That's an auto-negotiation thing. The theory is that the client and
server say what they support then they try for the most secure. In
practice,,, you often end up with less secure connections! IMO it is
better to simply disable the protocols that are known to be insecure.
