Lion is a significant and dramatic improvement over Snow Leopard.

I suppose you could still get Snow Leopard "retail" from NewEgg.com, if
you really HAD TO HAVE SL.

I converted to Lion while it was still in Beta, and I installed the
"retail" versions of both Lion and Server Lion as soon as they became
available.

It (Lion) is by far the most reliable incarnation of MacOS X yet released.
