Thanks guys, for putting some things straight. The main reason for posting was that I started to think that the installed OS might be different depending on which Mac was booted during the install. Concretely: "Maybe an install made from a G4 dual doesn’t work properly on a G3."
Another reason: I didn’t know if one could boot from a carbon copy of the installer DVD. So I guess that’s what I’m going to do next. Of course, all that odd behaviour is still unexplained. The G4 doesn’t have any special hardware installed, and I think I have done another install exactly this way before, only that was on a GigE. Maybe the firewire cable is getting old? Who knows. I’ll try my second one. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
