Hello:

Is the fan running? I got a smell too years ago! I have a Quicksilver 2000
(OEM) with a clock rate of 1 Ghz from an American friend in the Netherlands.
I let a University use my computer while I was sleeping and
I was using a defragmenting program. The university did a lot of
calculations and my microprocessor's temperature went over 50 degrees
Celsius. I got a warning from the defragmenter which stopped!!!
Use a program to check if your processor is getting too hot!
A smell is some warning!
Give your computer a rest!
My computer was constantly online for 8 years till that University incident
