Explain please "does not get recognized". Exactly what happens or
doesn't happen.
It is not recognized at all in any utility program or in any way.
Not even in System Profiler, under the USB section? If it's AWOL
there, then it's probably a power issue. Perhaps try with nothing
else plugged into your USB bus.
Launch Console.app and set it to view the system.log. Then plug in
the drive. If any errors are thrown, you'll immediately see them in
Console's window.
