You have two alternative methods of opening the optical drive in your 
QuickSilver.

1. Shut the machine down properly. Restart in the normal fashion and hold down 
the mouse button until the optical drive opens.

and 

2. Open the hard drive. Select the "System" folder. Select the "Library" 
folder. Select the "CoreServices" folder. Select the "Menu Extras" folder. 
Double click on the "Eject.menu" to install a menu that will allow you to open 
and close the optical drive from the menu bar.
