I'm no "tech expert" :-) but unless you specifically need Leopard to run
Leopard-compatible apps, I can't see a reason to upgrade.

AFAIK, Leopard has not been very much loved, many people found it kind of an
"intermediate" step towards Snow Leopard.
Besides, many users reported it's slower (like 5-15%) than Tiger.

I don't think there are real threats around.
I'm using Tiger with Internet, and I had zero problems. I heard nobody using
OSX and getting any malware (unless they blindly clicked "OK" on suspect
windows appearing out of nowhere ;-).
