AFAIK, Leopard has not been very much loved, many people found it kind of an "intermediate" step towards Snow Leopard. I don't think there are real threats around. I'm using Tiger with Internet, and I had zero problems. I heard nobody using OSX and getting any malware (unless they blindly clicked "OK" on suspect windows appearing out of nowhere ;-).
