It must be at least 9.1, but there's a catch, not all 9.1 is the same. The DA needs a file called "Mac OS ROM" that's at least version 6.7.1 or newer. If your 9.1 installation has an older version of this file it probably won't boot. You might be able to upgrade to 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 and get a newer ROM file that way, IF the ROM file version # is the problem.
There are other possible problems, such as the System may need to be "blessed" to boot? If the System folder is missing the "Happy Mac" icon it's not blessed.
