The dual 1.25 will work fine in a single 1.25 motherboard. I don't believe it will harm the motherboard. A number of years ago I did have a dual processor where each processor was running a different speed. An error on my part. It was my first try at overclocking and I somehow skipped part of the directions and only overclocked one processor. I used it for a while before I realized my mistake and overclocked the other processor.
